Money should be looked at as a tool to attain your dreams AND help realize other party’s dreams, whether I am the one raising or investing it.
I realized the importance of getting out of my comfort zone early on when my parents sent me to a nearby city to live with my cousins to start my formal schooling. They made great sacrifices for my education, and I believe it has paid off.
I will never forget the lessons I learned from my music teacher. We both knew that I would be making a career in something other than music. Still, he never treated me differently, and I also did not stop going to the classes.
He told me “If you miss a note on the instrument you are playing, and the beat moves forward, don’t try to catch it from where you missed it, but wait and enter from where the beat is moving right now”, and it has been my guiding light so far.
I give my 100% now to anything I am doing at that moment. I was working in a company, and the company decided to close its India operations and let all the employees hired from premier colleges go. This, combined with a personal crisis at that time, made me realize that I have nothing more to lose in life right now, and the only way to go is up. It made me realize that life is too short to spend on climbing up the ladder.
The best work is one where you don’t feel you are working, you have a lot of freedom and responsibilities to do what you really want to do, you can debate your heart out and say things that you want to say, you work with people from different cultures, and you learn every single moment. I am glad to be doing this right now.
I have learnt from my parents to always keep learning and chase your dreams like there is no tomorrow and help others realize their dreams no matter how many obstacles you face.
The best investment for me is investing in learning something new.
The opportunity to talk to someone and understand their perspective on things is one of the simple pleasures of life and work for me.
Negotiating in deals is one of the most exciting aspects for me in life these days.
“The goal of life is to be fearless.”
